DESCRIPTION:Each season\, walk the same park trail with your nature journal to observe how the natural world has changed. Write\, sketch\, paint\, or diagram the new sights at each stop along the trail. Practice new journaling techniques and build a deep connection with the nature around you. \nWhat to expect:  \nMeet at the trailhead with other journalers. We’ll chat as a group\, disperse to journal\, and meet up again at the trailhead to share our observations. \n\nPaved trails; distance up to participants. Occasional benches.\nNo restrooms.\nRecommended to bring a portable chair or stool for journaling pauses.

Everyone is welcome at our Wichita Nature Journal Club\, no matter your skill level or age. Children may join alongside a responsible adult. \nWhat is Nature Journaling? \nNature journaling is slowing down and carefully observing the natural world with pencil and paper. Write\, sketch\, paint\, or diagram whatever you discover\, and by taking the time to observe\, you open up a world of natural wonder. \nLearn more about nature journaling and see examples. \nMeetup plan: \n\n10am – Meet at the Kansas Wildlife Exhibit\n(15 min) The group leader for the morning leads introductions.\nDisperse to journal on your own.\n11:45 am – Gather and share our observations with the group.\n\nNote: KWE’s Festivus Event starts at noon! KWE will have hot beverages\, snacks\, and the indoor exhibit open starting at noon. \nLogistics and amenities: \n\nParking & Paths: Well-maintained concrete pavement and large parking lot.\nRestrooms: Park restrooms are closed for the winter.\nSeating: Seating is available\, but consider bringing a portable stool or chair.\nBring your own journaling supplies!\nWe recommend Organic Maps (Google Play\, Apple Store) for walking trails. The app provides free\, privacy-focused\, open-source\, offline maps with turn-by-turn navigation based on OpenStreetMap data.
