Nature Journal Club – August Meetup
Northeast Sedgwick County Park, our August destination, offers around 650 beautiful acres of grassland and wooded area. It’s a fair distance out of town, but the fall wildflowers should be starting to pop off!
As always, at this meetup you can practice new techniques, meet new nature lovers, and build a deep connection with the nature around you. Everyone is welcome at our Wichita Nature Journal Club, no matter your skill level or age.
Meetup Plan:
- 9am – Meet at the park entrance, located at the intersection of 77th N. & 127th E.
- (10 min) – Introductions, information, and prompts.
- Disperse to journal.
- 10:15 am – Reflections: gather at the starting location to share some of your observations or pages with the group.
What to expect at Northeast Sedgwick County Park:
- Accessibility: Mowed paths, uneven terrain. Gravel parking lot with an ADA-compliant concrete parking pad.
- Restroom Access: No restroom access nearby.
- Seating: No benches or seating. Consider bringing a portable chair or stool.
- Tick Protection: Please protect yourself from ticks.
- Sun Protection: Shade is limited in this beautiful prairie.
- Bring your own journaling supplies.

Nature Journaling is slowing down and carefully observing the natural world with pencil and paper. Write, sketch, paint, or diagram whatever you discover, and by taking the time to observe, you open up a world of natural wonder.
