Nature Journal Club – June Meetup

June 20 | 9:00 am - 10:30 am

Practice new techniques, meet new nature lovers, and build a deep connection with the nature around you. Everyone is welcome at our Wichita Nature Journal Club, no matter your skill level or age.

Meetup plan:

  • 9am – Meet at the dirt portion of the parking lot behind the Extension Office, in the back corner.
  • (10 min) – Introductions, information, and prompts.
  • Disperse to journal.
  • 10:15 am – Reflections: gather at the head of the trail and optionally share some of your observations or pages with the group.

What to expect at the Sedgwick County Extension Arboretum’s Riparian Trail:

  • Accessibility: Asphalt trails, uneven at times; distance walked is up to participants.
  • Restroom Access: The nearest restroom is across the street (N of 21st) at QuikTrip.
  • Bring your own journaling supplies.
  • We recommend Organic Maps (Google Play, Apple Store) for walking trails. The app provides free, privacy-focused, open-source, offline maps based on OpenStreetMap data.

What is Nature Journaling?

Nature Journaling is slowing down and carefully observing the natural world with pencil and paper. Write, sketch, paint, or diagram whatever you discover, and by taking the time to observe, you open up a world of natural wonder.
